Electric Bikes In Gladstone

Easy Riding

E-bikes or electric bikes have become a popular option for many cyclists, they make light work of riding while still providing the benefits of being outdoors, being mobile and having the ability to explore your local area on two or three wheels. Easier to ride thanks to their electric motors, e-bikes are a great alternative to using your car to get around, or even to commute.

At Gladstone Bicycle Centre, we have a selection of electric bikes in stock and can explain the features, benefits and the differences between an electric bike and a regular bike. Available in several styles, including those that fold for convenience, just a few of the options are mountain bikes, trikes and hybrids, and you can choose from pedal assisted and throttle based bikes.

Compared to a normal bicycle, e-bikes are quite heavy and you will need to ride the bike differently as well. We do provide technical support and advice for all the bikes we sell—including electric bikes. All electric bikes we carry are fully compliant with all Australian regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do Throttle Based Electric Bikes Work?

These bikes are motorised, they don’t use pedalling at all and are powered by a motor. You can use either the pedals or the motor, but not at the same time. Throttle based bikes need to be registered for road use since they are essentially mopeds or motorcycles.

How Do Pedal Assisted Electric Bikes Work?

As the name suggests, pedal assisted bikes help you pedal and when you are not pedalling, they stop working. These bikes make riding easier and look very similar to any bike with pedals.

Can You Take A Passenger On An Electric Bike?

Yes, you can carry another person on an e-bike, however, the rules are the same as those for a push bike. Both rider and passenger must wear an AS approved helmet.
