At Gladstone Bicycle Centre, we encourage all members of the family to get out and about on their bikes. Not only is cycling a fun and fast way to explore your local area, it’s also a very healthy form of exercise, and a great way for parents, kids and friends to spend time together. So, whether you’re looking for a first bike or tenth bike for your child, we’re here to help. We have a great range of bike, trike and scooter styles for kids, with something to suit every budget. And our range of push bike accessories is just as comprehensive.

If your son or daughter is just starting to ride, we can help you choose that perfect first bike in just the right colour, to make their early experience an enjoyable one, with or without training wheels. For older kids there are a few other things to take into consideration including their preferences and the style of riding they do.

Our large range of options covers mountain bikes, BMX bikes, single speed bikes, racing bikes and many more. We can walk you through the features of each—from handle bars and wheel size to high performance suspension and off-road tyres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should My Child Have Training Wheels On Their First Bike?

This is largely dependent on whether the child has learned to ride a bike, and also whether he or she feels more comfortable with training wheels. Many kids start out with training wheels on their first bike until they are confident enough with their riding ability, to know they won’t fall off without the training wheels.

How Do I Choose A First Bike For My Child?

Your child needs to feel comfortable on the bike, and should be able to stand easily on both feet, when the bike is standing. The seat should be comfortable to sit on and the bike should be light enough for the child to handle. The bike also needs to be compliant with Australian standards.

Do Bikes Come With A Warranty?

Yes, in Australia bike parts are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty and when you buy a new bike, you are also entitled to a warranty for a period of time determined by the bike supplier.
